A Guide To Understanding AEG Tumble Dryer Error Codes And Solutions

It indicates a problem with the power supply.

Check the power supply by plugging in a different product into the same socket and see whether that works. Reset the appliance, and contact an Authorised Service Centre.
E70

Indicates a problem with the temperature sensor.

Reset the appliance’s control electronics by unplugging the appliance for 2 hours and then plugging it back in. If this does not solve the problem and the error persists, please book a repair. We do not recommend using the product until the problem has been fixed. Unplug the appliance and do not plug it in again until you are certain it is okay to do so.
Scraping/Rubbing noise while in use

Rear drum locks have not been released correctly during the first use of the dryer.

Rear drum locks are supposed to be removed automatically when the dryer is activated for the first time without the load in the drum. Please see the dedicated section in the user manual.
E50

Indicates a motor or software problem.

Reset the appliance. If this does not solve the problem, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
Water leakage from under the dryer.

Blocked pump, incorrect operation, dirt from clothes in the filter, clogging it up.

A blocked condensate pump is an issue that can occur in a dryer, leading to water leaks on the floor. This is also indicated by a small amount of water collected in the condensate water container after the drying cycle. This is a fault that requires the intervention of the support service, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.

Moisture, condensation, water in tumble dryer.

    This could be due to a number of factors. 

    Check for any error codes on the display.  Make sure that the temperature of the room is between 5 and 35°C. Check if the selected cycle includes the steam phase.  Clean the fluff filter after each cycle.  Make sure the appliance is not overloaded.  Clean the condenser (applicable to heat pump dryers and condenser dryers).  Check if the venting hose is fitted correctly (applicable to vented dryers).  Make sure the vent is open and clean (applicable to vented dryers). If the issue persists, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
    Tumble dryer’s condenser LED is on.

    Condenser needs cleaning.

    Clean the condenser, filters and air ducts. If this doesn’t solve the problem, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
    E80

    Indicates a problem with the cycle selector or the software.

    Make sure the cycle selector is not set between two programme options and reset the appliance. If this doesn’t solve the issue, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
    E40

    The laundry could be trapped between the appliance door and rubber seal.

    Make sure then that the tumble dryer is not built into, for instance, an enclosed cabinet without any ventilation. Install the appliance in a room with enough space and good ventilation. Do not install or use the appliance where the temperature can be less than 5°C or higher than 35°C. Clean the filters and door seal. Check the door seal for possible damage.
    Excessive moisture in the room, on walls and windows where the dryer is located.

    If the tumble dryer is installed in a room which is too small, condensation may occur.

    Reset the appliance. If this doesn’t solve the problem then contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.

    Indicates a motor or software problem.

    Reduce the load of laundry. Check that there is no excessively heavy object in the drum, like a duvet. Check another socket and make sure there are no other appliances running at the same time. If this doesn’t solve the issue, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
    E9E

    Electrical noise. Humidity or water on the UI board.

    Check main power supply, switch off other running appliances if necessary. The appliance is probably in a small closed storage room and is overheating or the air is heavy with moisture due to lack of ventilation. Make sure that the dryer is installed in an environment with sufficient air exchange. Clean the fluff filter and the heat exchanger area. Clean the filter after each drying cycle.
    ECA

    Possible empty steam tank.

    Fill the container for the steam system.
    CD

    There is a problem with the door latch.

    If the door is closed properly and the tumble dryer still displays the error code, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
    E60

    Indicates a heating source problem.

    Make sure that the tumble dryer is not built into an enclosed cabinet without any ventilation. Install the appliance in a room with enough space and good ventilation. Clean the filters, condenser and door seal. If the problem persists, then please contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
    E20, C2, or emits 2 beeps or 2 flashes.

    Indicates a drainage, pump or software problem. 

    Check if the external drain hose is connected correctly to a drain (if applicable). Check if the drain hose is not twisted or clogged and if it has any loops (if applicable). Reset the appliance. If the issue persists, contact us about our Repair & Care option if your appliance is broken.
    Err

    This appears when there is an attempt at changing a cycle or settings after the cycle has started or the chosen option cannot be used with the selected cycle. 

    Switch the dryer off and on, then select the desired cycle options. Make sure that the door is fully closed before starting the programme.
